About Jessica Mazzell
A Passion for learning led Jessica to get degrees in Emergency Medical Science, Fire Science, Biology, Psychology, Paramedicine, and receive her Physician Substitute in 2007 from DCI Biologicals. She's an avid learner who attended UNC-Chapel Hill and is well on her way to taking every class offered at CFCC, except those pesky math ones. Throughout her scholastic career, she won various writing and art awards. She was the 2021 winning recipient of the prestigious Women of Distinction award for her help with COVID-19 readiness and planning.
Jessica has been creating her own worlds since she was very young. Often times, you can see her looking out the window of a plane or car, dreaming up what her characters will do next. They love visiting her in her dreams, where she came up with the idea for The Bellhammon Witches. As she got further along in developing the world, she realized that in order to tell their story properly, the story would need to be split up, creating the Rise of the Legacies series. There will be 7 books spanning multiple genres mixed into a supernatural masterpiece. Head over to her 'Books' page and read about them.
When Jessica is not off in her own world, she's either at work or home enjoying a cup of coffee- or ten and snuggling with her husband. *Spoiler* She's probably still thinking about her books.* For 19 years, she has worked as a Set Medic for film and TV. Some of the more notable shows she has worked on have been Halloween Kills, Iron Man 3, and many of Stephen King's TV shows, where she met him on the set of Under the Dome. Nervous but determined, she walked up to him and struck up a conversation, eventually leading to her telling him about her book. He gave her many ideas and asked to read it when she was finished. Finally, that day is near!
CATS, Harry Potter, comics, cosplay, reading, cooking, traveling, and more coffee take up the rest of her time. Who needs sleep anyway, right? She's been called a nerd a time or two and fully embraces it. Just look at her cosplay pictures.
Jessica lives in NC with her husband, but since they travel all over for work many months out of the year, home is anywhere her head finds a pillow. Her two adult sons and grandson keep her young and happy.
Jessica also writes children's books under the name Jessilynn Mazzell.
